Food Feuds

There have been several incidents where a dish considered traditional in one country or a very famous dish in one country have originated from other.

Some of the famous cases of food freuds are:

Indian curry as british curry
The famous indian curry, the idea of which was used by britishers with some slight modifications by the name of british curry, it is so popular that it contributes to almost 5 billion euros to the british economy, not only the curry but also chicken tikka masala which actually originated in punjab region of the indian subcontinent according to a food critic of “the hindu” , was referred to as a “true british dish” by british foreign secretary robin cook

Spaghetti (Italy vs china)
No italian would ever admit that spaghetti was invented in china rather than sicilly.pasta has been around since roman empire, but few claim that an Italian merchant marco polo brought it to venice from east asia(china) during his travels around asia.

Kimchi (korea vs japan)
Kimchi which was originally an Korean dish was modified by Japan and was named as japanese kimchi or kimuchi that was an official food for Atlanta Olympic, the Japanese version of this dish began gaining popularity in japan and overseas, stoking a feud with south korea.

Malasia and Singapore(yeesang/yusheng)
These both nations have been fighting over land and water but a dish named yeesang(in Singapore) and  yusheng(in malasia) was the reason of this disputethis dispute started as in 2009 malasian government added yeesang into their list of national dishes in response to which a singaporen professor tan wee cheng had set up a special facebook page in 2010 dedicated to the inclusion of yushsang into their national dish list.it is difficult to determine the origin of this dish as it was originated from a cantonese recipe that both Singapore and malasia had later polished.

  1. 1. Punctuation and use of articles = little or no knowledge
    2. Sentences badly constructed
    3. Capitalization = little or no knowledge
    4. Reads badly, bland without any sense of humour
